Shenandoah National Park, VA and the Federal Government Shutdown

October 1, 2013

Shenandoah National Park

Due to the Federal Government shutdown, caused the closing of all National Parks.  We received the memo that Shenandoah National Park was CLOSED.  We were told the hiking trails were CLOSED and the roads were closed; only the campground were open for only 48 hours and then we had to GET OUT!   We hiked anyway.

 Jim found a Walking-Stick Bug.

Allie:  "Hey Irie, Why don't you start barking and chase that deer!"
Deer: "Hey Dogs, relax, take a chill pill."
 Oak leaves fall.

The forest is filled with color!

 Hike to Dark Hollow Falls

The butterflies, deer and catapillers did NOT get the memo that the park was CLOSED!

 Run  Irie, RUN!
Irie, taking refuge from Allie's chasing/barking, between Jim's legs.
OK Allie, leave Irie alone now!

Campfire Time!
